Technical Session of IPSL - Call for Papers
The 25th Technical Sessions of the IPSL will be held in March 2009. The purpose of the Sessions is to enable members to present work done by them in the form of a research paper. Members who wish to read their papers are kindly requested to inform the Secretary by sending the full paper by November 30th, 2008

The Sri Lankan Junior Science Olympiad Competition - 2008
The 1st island-wide competition to recognize and promote Science among O/L students "The Sri Lankan Junior Science Olympiad Competition" was held on August 17, 2008 at the Universities of Colombo, Peradeniya, Kelaniya, Ruhuna, Jaffna, Eastern and Uva-Wellasa. Results of this competition are published on the web now. A maximum of six students will be selected to participate in the 5th International Junior Science Olympiad Competition which will be held in South Korea in December 2008.
2000-2007
The Sri Lankan Physics Olympiad Competition - 2008
The 4th Sri Lankan Physics Olympiad Competition was held on July 12, 2008 at the Universities of Colombo, Peradeniya, Kelaniya, Ruhuna, Jaffna, Vavuniya and Batticaloa. Results are published on the web now. A maximum of six students who have done well in the national competion will be selected to participate in the 40th International Physics Olympiad Competition which will be held in Maxico in July 2009 and/or 10th Asian Physics Olympaid Competition which will be held in Thiland in April 2009.

The National Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad Competition - 2008
The 2nd National Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad competition was held on March 29, 2008. Results of this competition are published on the web now. A team of five students who have done well in the national competition participated in the 2nd International competition held in Andonesia in August 2008.

National Database on Physics Research
The IPSL now maintains a database on publications carried out by Sri Lankans residing in Sri Lanka and abstracts of postgraduate degrees awarded by Sri Lankan Universities and Institutions related to Physics. The Institute hopes that this will become the primary source to obtain information related to Physics research in Sri Lanka and to contact potential researchers/supervisors.
Physicists, postgraduate students or their supervisors could submit information regarding their work directly to editor@ip-sl.org to be included in this database.
