The  Sri Lankan Physics Olympiad Competition - 2011

The 7th Sri Lankan Physics Olympiad Competition was held on September 24, 2011 from 9.00am to 11.00am at the Universities of Colombo, Peradeniya, Kelaniya, Ruhuna, Jaffna, Vavunia and Batticaloa. A maximum of five and eight students who do well in the national competion will be selected to participate in the 43rd International Physics Olympiad Competition which will be held in Estonia in July 2012 and/or 13th Asian Physics Olympaid Competition which will be held in India in April 2012.

The  Sri Lankan Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad Competitions (Gr. 10-13 & Gr. 6-9) - 2011

The 5th  Sri Lankan Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad competition and 1st Sri Lankan Junior Astronomy Olympiad competition was held on September 24, 2011 from 11.00am to 12.30pm at the Universities of Colombo, Peradeniya, Kelaniya, Ruhuna, Jaffna, Vavunia and Baticaloa. A team of five students who do well in the national competition will be selected to participate in the 4th International Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad competition which will be held in Poland in August/September 2011.

National Database on Physics Research

The IPSL now maintains a database on publications carried out by Sri Lankans residing in Sri Lanka and abstracts of postgraduate degrees awarded by Sri Lankan Universities and Institutions related to Physics. The Institute hopes that this will become the primary source to obtain information related to Physics research in Sri Lanka and to contact potential researchers/supervisors.

Physicists, postgraduate students or their supervisors could submit information regarding their work directly to editor@ip-sl.org to be included in this database.

Technical Session of IPSL - 2012

The 28th Technical Session of the IPSL will be held on March 17, 2012. The purpose of the Technical Session is to enable members to present work done by them in the form of a conference paper. Members who wish to present papers at the 2012 Technical Session are kindly requested to submit the full paper by November 28, 2011.
