Summary:
Last year, the
International Energy Agency (IEA), sounded an alarm that global oil
production is likely to peak, the point in time when global oil reserves
deplete to the point that production gradually begins to decline, in around
10 years. Also a leaked report from a German military think tank predicts
peak oil may occur in 2010. Therefore inevitably the major power source in
about 30 to 40 years will be the Non Conventional Renewable Energy (NCRE).
Whilst presenting some of the global preparedness for generating NCRE,
possible Renewable Energy Options for Sri Lanka will be highlighted.
